What is a hyperbaric chamber?A hyperbaric chamber is a sealed, pressure-rated enclosure that raises the internal environment above normal atmospheric pressure while an occupant sits or lies inside. In equipment terms, it is a pressure vessel for human occupancy, engineered with a defined working-pressure envelope, viewports, seals, controls and gas-delivery systems matched to its intended use.
How does a hyperbaric chamber work?A hyperbaric chamber works by sealing the cabin, increasing internal pressure to a controlled setpoint, holding that pressure for the programmed session, then returning gradually to normal atmospheric pressure. Depending on the model, the chamber may pressurise with air while oxygen is delivered through a mask or hood, or use a single-occupant configuration designed for direct oxygen operation.
What is the difference between a monoplace and a multiplace hyperbaric chamber?A monoplace hyperbaric chamber is built for one occupant and is usually selected for private, boutique clinical or individual recovery environments. A multiplace chamber supports multiple occupants in a shared pressure cabin and is selected for clinics, hospitals, wellness centres or facilities that need higher daily session capacity and attendant access.
What is the difference between a hard-shell and an inflatable hyperbaric chamber?A hard-shell hyperbaric chamber is a rigid pressure vessel built for higher structural stability, defined pressure ratings and professional installation requirements. Inflatable or soft-shell chambers are portable, lower-pressure systems with a different construction class. Buyers comparing the two should evaluate pressure rating, certification scope, intended setting, service support and local compliance requirements.
What is the difference between hyperbaric and hypobaric chambers?Hyperbaric and hypobaric chambers move pressure in opposite directions. A hyperbaric chamber raises internal pressure above normal atmospheric pressure. A hypobaric chamber lowers internal pressure below atmospheric pressure to simulate altitude conditions. They are different engineering categories and are not interchangeable for procurement, installation or operating protocols.
